Course: The Art of Effective Leadership

 

Course summary

Popular with schools, the art of effective leadership provides the new-to-post leader with the necessary skills and knowledge to hit the ground running in their new role. Should you need a different content to any of the modules – please get in touch.

All modules can be delivered either together as a suite of training through, for example, an INSET day or individually as twilight or remote training. 

 

Module 1 - Introduction to Leadership

This module guides the leader through what it means to be a leader, what is required and expected of them and what that means for them in their role. It helps them focus on what they need to do more / differently / less to be a more effective leader.

 

Module 2 - Leading Yourself: Value Led Leadership

This module helps the leader identify and understand what their values are and what that means for them in their leadership. It helps them understand the importance of sympathy and synergy with our own, others' and the school's values.

 

Module 3 - Leading Yourself: Time Management Skills for Senior and Middle Managers

This workshop outlines different easy-to-apply methods of time management, helping each leader to develop a better understanding of how to improve their own personal time management skills and be a more effective leader.

 

Module 4 - Leading Yourself: Workload Management Skills for Senior and Middle Managers

This workshop outlines different easy-to-apply methods of time management, helping each leader to develop a better understanding of how to improve their own personal time management skills and be a more effective leader.

 

Module 5 - Leading Others: Building a Great Team

This module explains the importance of communication and interpersonal skills on leading a team and how to develop these and be a more effective leader. It also looks in more detail at setting the norms and expectations of your team and how to follow up informally and formally with your team.

 

Module 6 - Leading Others: Challenge and Accountability for Senior and Middle Managers

This module covers the importance and the effective use of challenge and accountability as a leader to help drive school improvement. It covers the difference between challenging, confrontational and difficult conversations as well as how leaders can supportively lead those conversations and effectively hold staff (and therefore themselves) to account.

 

Module 7 - Leading Others: Successfully Managing Change for Senior and Middle Managers

This module covers the different stages of change management and brings together Knoster's model of change with Steve Radcliffe's powerful work on Future-Engage-Deliver. It gives leaders all the guidance, information and support they need to deliver effective and successful change.

 

 

Course: Outstanding progress across subjects and the school

 

Course summary

Outstanding Assessment provides a number of strategies for teachers and school leaders to implement in every classroom and provide assessment data that is consistent and reliable. The benefits of the course include easy-to-apply tips and strategies that help school assessment more accurately measure progress and more effectively inform any necessary support. It helps leaders, teachers and students to have a clearer understanding of different assessment strategies and the importance of having a clear, fit-for-purpose whole-school rationale for assessment.

This module supports senior leaders in preparing an assessment scheme that is comprehensive, clear and coherent, creating reliability and dependability in your whole-school assessment scheme.

Supporting all leaders with seven essential data analysis techniques in Excel.

 
Module 3 – Data and the curriculum

This module supports all leaders with their analysis of data and identification of patterns and implications for the curriculum from that analysis.

 
Module 4 –What to look out for when predicting grades

This module supports all leaders with their analysis of data and identification of patterns and implications for teaching and learning, pupil and staff support to ensure targets are reached.

 
Module 5 – Targeting the right students from assessments

This module supports teachers and middle leaders in identifying the key students to move forward and target with additional support. Thus, ensuring the students receive the best support and make the most progress.

 
Module 6 – Ideas for Intervention

Helping teachers and leaders identify the key issues from the data and fit the best intervention to best fix the right issue.

 

Module 7 - 7 More Awesome Things Leaders Can Create in Excel

Supporting all leaders with seven more essential data analysis techniques in Excel.
